Looking for a fence panel that will really stand out? Our Cedar Bevel Edge slatted fence panel is the perfect option! This panel creates a striking shadow line and enhances the colour variation and grain of each board. It sheds water so your fencing stays protected in bad weather.

Bevel Edge Cedar Slatted Fence Panel

Our Bevel edge Cedar slatted fence panel is the original and best slatted fencing option. It has many small design features that set it apart in both appearance and durability.

Visually the angled front edge of each batten gives a far superior shadow line, this accentuates the colour variation and grain of each individual board. On a practical note the angled front edge sheds water, so that the fencing is protected in bad weather.
A further advantage of this Bevel edge Cedar slatted fence panel is that it allows light to pass through the panel from behind, the angle of the bevel is such that it will let sunlight through into your garden. This is a very important factor especially when having top of wall fencing as sometimes adding height to a boundary will cut out sunlight. This extra light makes plants, lawns and trees and people much healthier. We have seen gardens that have previously been dim and shady warmed up by the extra light. A simple design feature like this can make all the difference to your garden space.

The Contemporary Fencing Company was first formed this was the original fence panel that was offered and the design is the same today due to it being so well thought out. This Bevel edge Cedar slatted fence panel is constructed from 44mm x 17mm Clear grade Western Red Cedar bevel edge battens with a gap size of 7mm.

Our unique Cedar fencing allows maximum privacy and contemporary style. These panels are used in conjunction with our posts and capping as part of our patented 3 part system or can be attached directly to a wall or existing fence.

Why Slatted fencing?

The rise in popularity of slatted fencing has been huge. One of the reasons for this is that the strong lines of horizontal fencing contrasts so well against plants and natural elements.

It is a real case of opposites attracting! On the one hand you have the strong structural lines of horizontal fencing and the other hand the natural form of plants and trees, together they just work!

But why is horizontal slatted fencing so appealing to look at? Well we think it may have a lot to do with the shadows between each strip of wood.  These shadows act as a separator allowing your eye to perceive each individual board. This is further highlighted when these boards run around the garden uninterrupted. Combine this with the wonderful varied colours of Western Red Cedar and it just becomes something really special.

Occasional – light sap wood may be present in small percentage of boards.
Small splits on ends are permitted on small percentage of boards.
Machining marks may be present on a small quantity of boards, these may be small blemishes or stains from machining processes.
Boards with minor curvature and twisting, as far as proper installation is ensured. As a guide, a 10mm deviation from true is permitted on a 19 x 38 x 2440mm board. The longer the board, the greater the deviation from true is permitted.

The natural colour variation of  our Western Red Cedar battens are simply stunning. Colours vary form light honey tones through soft reds to dark browns. Within this range of colours there are also two and three tone swirling patterns of natural grain.  The effect of this naturally occurring colour variation when used within a garden scheme is second to none. These unique characteristics separate Cedar from all other types of timber and set it as the favourite choice for garden designers and architects for use within contemporary schemes.

Cedar has a natural preservative oil within it that eliminates the need for further chemical treatments it acts as natural preservative to help the wood resist rot and decay. This makes it the perfect material to construct quality fencing. Many people prefer to allow their cedar fencing to “naturally age” outdoors without any finish at all. Over time the colour will weather to a handsome silver-grey highlighted by darker streaks, and the grain of the wood will become slightly raised.

Some clients prefer to maintain the look of the warm colours of Cedar and opt to have the fencing panels treated. We recommend Textrol HES – UV  protection oil to protect and enhance the colour of your Cedar.  Textrol HES  is available to buy in our online shop. This enhances the natural colours of the Cedar panels and keeps them looking fresh as the day they were installed. Normally this stain would need to be refreshed every two to three years to keep the panels looking their best.

Our Cedar Battens and boards are machined in house. We take care to ensure that the Cedar we produce is consistent and high quality.
All the work we do far exceeds most nationally accepted standards. When machining natural products there are always variations that occur but these will always fall within the accepted quality controls.
